@  RollingWave : (07 July 2013 - 12:36 AM) also, he was one of the youngest FA out there, so there's actually a chance he might improve
@  2016Champions : (07 July 2013 - 12:29 AM) Not only does Omri knock down open shots, but he runs the floor very hard. He's slightly better than his stats indicate. I'm not saying he's a great player, but there aren't many better players available for the vet min.
@  Steven : (06 July 2013 - 09:00 PM) Casspi is just a spot filler, who will prove depth on the wings incase of injuries throughout the year. He can knock down the open jumper.
@  sircharles : (06 July 2013 - 07:30 PM) they need to sign someone a little stronger than that....
@  BenQueens : (06 July 2013 - 07:27 PM) Hmm. Looking at his shot charts, he actually looks like a 37-40% 3P shooter from the wings and the corners. Just from the top that he's weak.
@  DrewinAbilene : (06 July 2013 - 07:22 PM) Omri Casspi reportedly signing with Houston for 2 years
@  BenQueens : (06 July 2013 - 07:21 PM) Omri Casspi, apparently? Kind of surprising, thought rest of signings would be better 3P shooters.
@  sircharles : (06 July 2013 - 07:15 PM) corey brewer still available?
@  sircharles : (06 July 2013 - 07:12 PM) i wonder who else the rockets can get at decent role players
@  tombrokeoff : (06 July 2013 - 07:11 PM) whew.  havent been able to log in via twitter in forever.  but now its fixed.
@  BenQueens : (06 July 2013 - 07:03 PM) Guess that was never going to happen.

@  DrewinAbilene : (06 July 2013 - 06:34 PM) I love Garcia! Great job by Morey to convince him to stay and compete for a ring!
@  BenQueens : (06 July 2013 - 05:30 PM) Marc Spears says he's signing for 2 years, 2.6M https://twitter.com/...563095123243008
@  ale11 : (06 July 2013 - 05:25 PM) that would be awesome. 3 and D guy, leadership role....he knew we needed the money and might be willing to sign for less, specially now that we landed dwight
@  feelingsuper... : (06 July 2013 - 05:25 PM) That is a solid move, well done Morey.
@  BenQueens : (06 July 2013 - 05:24 PM) Look like Garcia is returning. Roster taking shape.

The Woj is reporting that Thomas Robinson is on his way to Portland:

Houston has traded Thomas Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers, league source tells Y! Sports.

Portland will send Houston two future second-round picks and the draft rights to two foreign players, league sources tells Y!

Portland will send the rights to Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic to the Rockets, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Exciting stuff! We know T-Rob was going to be moved anyway, and I think this is probably a fair reflection of his value. Cap space acquired!

Draft Express has some info on both of the two European prospects: Todorovic and Papanikolau.

They both sound like with a couple of years of seasoning they could turn out quite well. Particularly liked the part about Papanikolaou having three point range.

agreed.......nothing like building up the war chest with a few more assets to help retool the team around Harden, Parsons and Howard

Indeed. Morey's original plan worked out to perfection. Knowing he couldn't couldn't have gotten this much for Patterson, trade for Robinson and trade him for the cap space and future assets. Nicely done!

Asik and Lin are both being shopped right now. That's pretty confident.

Yea that's really confident. I really don't like the idea of just dumping them for no reason..I dont really think Colderon and Hawes really are worth the cap savings. We will see, lol I did honk it was funny that neither one of them are coming to talk to Dwight, atleast we know Parsons is safe. Fun times for Rockets fans. I truly have no idea who is goin to be on the Rockets with Harden and Parsons lol

            Rockets fan newton, you're right!

It's almost like the beginning of last offseason.  I had no clue who was going to be on our team.  We did amazing this year and I STILL have no idea who is going to be on our team this year.

It had to be done.  I don't want to deal Lin and Asik just to deal them, but if there is a good option then trade them.

I find it weird that Rockets fans are applauding this move before we have even signed Dwight. Imo this move is only good IF we get Dwight, because I highly doubt any of the guys we got in return will end up being better players than T-Rob.

If we strike out with Howard the next line of targets are Smith, Iguodala and Millsap, all of whom are excellent players. How confident are you that T-Rob will be worth the near-max money that these guys deservedly command? Personally, I think it seems pretty unlikely, especially in the time frame of the next 2-3 seasons. Given the state of the Rockets' roster it's not like he'd be getting a ton of minutes to develop if he stayed anyway. Seems like the right deal to me.

By declining Delfino, Brooks, Anderson, Ohlbrecht, and Garcia, Houston had $16,181,453 in cap space. So trading T-Rob was only necessary in order to have enough cap space for Dwight ($20.5m max), we had more than enough for Smith, Iguodala or Millsap.

If Dwight wasn't our target, I have no doubt in my mind we wouldn't have traded T-Rob unless we were getting much, MUCH, more than 2nd round picks in return.

Or if one of the 4 second rounders turn out to be better then the 21st best prospect in the 2012 draft (according to WARP using college data). One of the foreigners they got just won the rising Euroleague star award (past winners include Rubio and Galinari) the other had a WARP of 1.5 (the first overall pick had a WARP of 2.1).

Although I love T-Rob, I think this assessment may not be true,  we're getting not 1 or 2, but essentially 4 second round draft picks, if any of them works out their value in contract would be very significant.

You wouldn't get 4 2nd round prospect trading Patrick Patterson (since Aldrich and Douglas are already FA.)

This is some kind of pre-hindsight is 20/20 perspective....in order to go for the big fish we wanted (Dwight) T-Rob had to go.  It was either or.  The Rockets decided to go all in on Dwight--and why wouldn't they?  As far as I can tell, Houston has as good a shot as anyone (most think the best shot) to land Dwight and it is presumed he will return healthy and be a top 5 player.  I doubt there is a GM in the history of all that ever was or will be that doesn't make this trade.

Of course most everyone would have preferred the option of being able to keep Robinson and watching him develop alongside Dwight...it just wasn't in the cards.
