@  RollingWave : (19 June 2013 - 05:12 AM) so the head band is like a final power seal for Lebron, only open in absolute need
@  BenQueens : (19 June 2013 - 03:51 AM) Ray Allen, why not. This is going to be 5.2 intense seconds of ball.
@  BenQueens : (19 June 2013 - 03:39 AM) Holy crap, that Parker 3.
@  BenQueens : (19 June 2013 - 03:38 AM) Please let there be a game 7, and let this be the margin in the 4Q of 7. Awesome.
@  RollingWave : (19 June 2013 - 03:18 AM) oh my, this is an epic game .. one more run by Duncan should....
@  2016Champions : (17 June 2013 - 05:26 AM) I had a feeling Ginobili would regress to the mean.
@  Dan G : (17 June 2013 - 04:33 AM) Now I had no idea Ginobli was gonna pull a Wade and turn back the clock. I give Pop the majority of the credit for that.
@  Dan G : (17 June 2013 - 04:32 AM) I don't think it was too ballsy on San Antonio's part. With the way Splitter has been playing and since Miami has started Miller the last two games, I thought it was inevitable that Ginobli would start.
@  RollingWave : (17 June 2013 - 02:57 AM) I must say that both team had some serious ballsy lineup changes this series, Ginobilli start? and dominate?
@  2016Champions : (16 June 2013 - 09:26 PM) According to Dr. Klapper, treatment for Parker's hamstring will only last one half. Lateral movement and jumping will be a problem.
@  2016Champions : (16 June 2013 - 04:56 AM) Parker said Pop was very angry with him for the constant nagging insisting he can play, Pop really didn't want Parker to play. Just goes to show Pop knows best.
@  RollingWave : (16 June 2013 - 04:28 AM) Parker says his hamstring is almost shot , that would probably doom the Spurs if he can't play at least 80%
@  2016Champions : (15 June 2013 - 12:38 AM) Miami is 6-0 in playoffs following losses (outscoring opponents by 20.7 PPG in those games). They've won 12 straight games following losses.
@  2016Champions : (14 June 2013 - 04:50 PM) The Heat are notoriously slow starters. Once they get going it's like a snowball effect, they get more dangerous as they go along.
@  2016Champions : (14 June 2013 - 04:49 PM) My heart says SA, but my mind says MIA
@  rocketrick : (14 June 2013 - 11:06 AM) Anybody else going to San Antone for Game 5??
@  RollingWave : (14 June 2013 - 10:15 AM) The Heat is doomed / the Spurs is doom , repeat until game 7
@  2016Champions : (14 June 2013 - 06:28 AM) Now that Wade's knee doesn't seem to be bothering him anymore, Spurs are in trouble.
@  rocketrick : (14 June 2013 - 06:26 AM) Mark Twain once was quoted--Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Not sure that motivates the Heat but food for thought for whatever that is worth!
@  2016Champions : (14 June 2013 - 04:43 AM) What happened to Parker that second half? Hamstring caught up to him?

He has a lot to work on in the offseason.  If he doesn't improve his skills, then no, he's not the answer.

He's probably the least fundamental and least skilled of any starting point guard in the league.  Just horrendous fundamentals.  Makes sense considering he played shooting guard in college.  Never gets low when he dribbles, never keeps his dribble tight, can't dribble with his left hand, can't make left handed layups, can't play slow.  He also has no moves.

His game is basically 1) good vision and 2) elite quickness.  He's dependent on just blowing right by his man and getting to the hoop.  If he can't do that, then he can't help you.

      What's your list then?

      1. Chris Paul
      2. Tony Parker
      3. Russell Westbrook
      4. Stephen Curry
      5. Kyrie Irving
      6. Deron Williams
      7. Mike Conley
      8. John Wall
      9. Rajon Rondo
      10. Ty Lawson
      11. George Hill (ridiculously underrated on both sides of the floor)
      12. Steve Nash (he's finally declining but the skills are still there)
      13. Jrue Holiday
      14. Ricky Rubio(incredible defender)
      15. Jeff Teague
      16. Jeremy Lin (would be higher if not for his slow start)
      17. Damian Lillard (bad defender)
      18. Goran Dragic
      19. Greivis Vasquez
      20. Kyle Lowry (amazing at beginning then slumped hard)

Honerable mentions: Andre Miler, Jason Kidd, Jameer Nelson, Monta Ellis (horrible shot jacker), Kemba Walker and Brandon Jennings (shot jackers with bad defense), Avery Bradley and Eric Bledoe (both have horrible offense but tremendous defense), Beno Udrih, Raymond Felton

Don't be too quick to assume you're right and the experts are wrong.

There is no way Lin is better than Lillard and Dragic. Some of your honorable mention are also better as is Vazquez, and I forgot about John Wall and Lowry, they are better too. Lin might be even lower than 20 currently!

Vesquez is a very bad defender, his offense and defense cancels each other out.

Lin is a terrible defender. Have you watched him play this year? Why do you think we have to bench him for Beverley at times?

I disagree. Maybe this will give you some of my perspective:

I'm not saying Lin is a very good defender, but he's average at worst.

Obviously he has flaws, but so do many of our players. Harden is worse of a defender than Nash almost all the time. But do we say there's no hope? He makes idiotic decisions, but do we question his bball iq? Parsons goes cold, do we question his shooting ability? I just don't understand what you're saying. He's not great, but he's improving. And once he gets that shot better, he's going to be really good.

I'm not trying to convince him, just trying to have an insightful discussion. Even if we don't come to an agreement, it's good to see things from different perspectives. I think he's judging Lin based on first impressions (Lin played poor defense in New York, and he had a horrible start this season) and he's also having a kneejerk reaction to Lin's poor performance in game 1. I would think very poorly of Lin too if I ignored how well he played in March and April.

Rahat just said he has a lot of holes in his game.  Jeremy is the first to admit that he has a lot of work to do.  I think the comparison that was made to Billups could be pretty prescient.  If you don't think he'll improve so be it. :)

The comparison to Billups is awful. He is nothing like Billups. Chauncey can post up, is a great spot up shooter, excels in the half court game, has a very high basketball IQ. Lin does none of these things.

No, you are incorrect. This is not a "knee jerk reaction." I am basing my assessment of Lin from watching him all season long both on the offensive and defensive end. When you say he played well, I agree that he played better during those months but not enough to elevate him into the top 20 of NBA PGs. When he is benched it's because his defense is so awful and he's not doing much offensively either. Some say this is McHale hating on him or mistreating him, but it's not. The fact is, there are some games that Beverley is better than him so he gets the minutes. McHale, as a good coach, recognizes this. Again, I hope Im wrong and he dramatically improves in the offseason but he is currently not even in the top half of the league among PGs which means he is a below average starting PG right now.
