Eric Gordon and the Phoenix Suns agree to a Maximum Offer sheet worth $58 million over 4 years, sources said.

Gordon told me his desire is to play in Phoenix, not New Orleans.

Ill repeat- sign and trade is still available for the Rockets. Had we offered Gordon and it was matched we would be unable to receive him in trade.

Or they can let walk to Phoenix.
At this point, its either Phoenix or NO.
House money says NO matches.
Rockets never had a shot.
I just hope a team offers Dragic 12 mil

That's where we come in. We've got a ton of young assets we can package to facilitate that deal. I would love it if we could figure out a way to nab Gortat - he doesn't really fit with what NO are doing, but he would definitely improve our team. If the trade was going to be Gordon for Gortat + filler, then we could offer to take Gortat and give NO some of our younger players instead. While they are set for the future at PF with Davis, they could probably do with an SF/PF tweener. Maybe Terrence Jones? He already knows how to play with Davis, after all...

This is untrue. If a team offers a contract to a RFA(PHX) and the original team(NO) matches that offer the player CAN NOT be signed and traded to the team that made the offer(PHX). This means Houston not offering a contract means it is more likely that we try a sign and trade. Phoenix is out of it if the contract is matched. He signed an offer with another team, so no way in hell they can sign and trade him. If they match, they r keeping him.

This being said, if we had felt Gordon was worth a max contract yet still didn't offer it to him, we are in prime position for a sign and trade. Odds may still be higher that the Hornets keep him after they match, but we can't be counted out yet.
Couple all this with us pulling Courtney Lee's qualifying offer and it's even more likely that we attempt a sign and trade.

The problem might be in the details. It would seem that there are enough players to trade but the numbers (contracts) and goals (staying young) might cause conflicts between the Rockets and Hornets.

Not true, a restricted free agent signs an offer sheet with another team, and his original team matches, they cant trade him to the other team. They cant even trade him to another team for a year and that would also require the players approval once the time has passedThis is untrue. You're right. Hurts to say that.
If the team matches an offer sheet and retains their free agent, then for one year they cannot trade him without his consent, and cannot trade him at all to the team that signed him to an offer sheet. They also can't trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction

Also, Brook is the only bargaining chip the Nets have to get Dwight, so i don't know how that will play out.
If only dwight had opted out last season, most of the confusion now would have been dissipitated
