Anybody want to reevaluate the possibility of Amare coming to Houston? If tonights Knicks-Heat game is any indication Amare is the odd man out in NY. Face it, sometimes too many stars is as big a problem as having none at all. Chandler is having too much success to be let go by them, and Melo is the best player of the three. In the current roster, with Amare the Knicks don't win enough to justify the money spent, and it becomes more evident every time he sits(whether its for slapping a fire extinguisher or other injury). The Knicks have several options coming up, as they're overcap and have quite a few FA's coming up this offseason, getting rid of Amare solves their cap situation and gives them an opportunity to find a solution.
Im not necessarily saying I think Amare solves all our problems, but he's certainly a good player. He does seem to have some injury issues, some of which are avoidable...such as the Fire extinguisher, and even being poked in the eye back in 09.
Im aware its a long shot, possibly more so than D12, but hypothetical situations are what these forums are all about.

no way no way NO WAY amare is an injury waiting to happen on a contract that would end any chance we had of improving. amare is due 64 mil over the next 3 years. his knees are trash. he can't even get insurance on his contract because his knees are so bad( thats why phoenix let him go). new york is stuck with him. sure they would trade him in a flash if they could. no other team in the league will touch that contract. they call his contract a cap killer.

Regardless of knees and other injury issues, the guy can still play, and play well at that. Not worth the contract? Agreed. A huge risk? Agreed. Untouchable by all 29 other teams because of the contract? Disagree. Despite his lack of defense at times, he is a dynamic scorer that can go to the rim as well as shoot the midrange shot and demands attention every time the ball is near him. As far as his knees go, aside from this year the last few have been pretty good for him(missing only 4 games in 09-10 and 10-11 total). If he is shopped there will be a team that will take the risk, guaranteed.
Again I'm not so much promoting that the Rockets should target him, just intrigued as to others thoughts on how NYK should change things up, as they've got to do something.

If Carmelo became available, which I don't think will happen now, I would definitely inquire about him.

if NYK shop him let me tell you why no one will step forward. after next season the salary cap becomes even more restrictive and may drop to around 54 mil because the players accepted less money in the new cba(players went from 57% of the BRI to 50%) that means if his contract is a cap killer now think what will happen when the cap goes down. it means amare would be making almost 40% of the teams salary. yes when healthy amare is a good player, but not worth the money he makes. it would mean we could not sign anyone else, and our flexibility is gone. he's not worth that (IMO)

No team in the league would be foolish enough to take Amare.
I take it back: the Wizards, the Magic, the Suns... I'll leave it there.

If we're talking about teams that are stupid enough to take him, based on their history, don't you have to include the Clippers?

Morey passed on him once when the pot was a little sweeter, this time around Stoudemire is more banged up and his contract is untouchable, there is little and more like no chance the Rockets trade for him...
I can't stand the Warriors!
