@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) http://bleacherrepor...ist-after-crash
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK

I read about the Harden elbow on several news sites today thinking it was something that could have been called either way, but when I watched the video myself, I was more than astonished. How do you call that anything but assault? That could have easily caused major nerve damage and put Harden in a wheelchair or worse. Articles talk about whether he will be banned for 5+ games, similar to Bynum, but I could easily see this escalating to him being released by the Lakers and not signed by anybody while he serves a season-long suspension.

Am I crazy? Much worse than punching an annoying fan. Much more violent and unwarranted.

Ehhhh... I think he'll get 10 games. Let's not forget that worse 'assaults' take place in virtually every single NHL game and that's somehow okay.

This isn't the NHL though, and those standards shouldn't apply here. There are no helmets in the NBA. It looks pretty awful in slo-mo. I think it's one of those instinctive things (there's a man there, must get him out of the way because I can celebrate!), but nevertheless it's a pretty disgusting foul.

As far as the punishment goes, it won't be as much as the Malice in the Palace. While the actual offense and harm caused is worse in this case, the fact that it happened on the court is going to keep it lower. The NBA does not want the idea of the game spilling beyond the confines of the court to become commonplace - the people who sit near the court are the ones who pay the most, after all ;). So they had to come down as hard as they possibly could on that. But in this instance, I'd say 10 games tops. Can you remember any other suspensions that have been that long (apart from fan-punching?).

Well, right. My point was that one shouldn't get too worked up given that bare-knuckle brawling is a part of another national sport and those altercations (the helmet point is irrelevant since they're not punching helmets) are generally far worse.

I am all for more physical play but Artest should get a 15 to 20 game suspension that carries into next season for a minimum of 5 games. That reaction had no place on the basketball court.

whatever suspension he gets should carry into the playoffs entirely. He should then be allowed to play all the games once the regular season starts, but his pay for the first how ever many he missed in the playoffs games should be withheld. That way MWP misses the important games, but still also has to give up money, becuase if he is only suspended for the playoffs he wont lose any money.

Matt Moore (Hardwood Paroxysm) had a good take on this which I agree with:

I don't believe the league office can levy a fine as well as suspend games that are not related to each other. So to lose any pay Artest would have to miss games next year. I don't believe missing play off games effects salary. The Matt Moore article is good but 4 or 5 games is way too small of a punishment when who it is should be taken into consideration as well as damage that could be done, 5 games is nothing compared possible damage to Harden. Let's not forgot how bad this looks for the NBA, this just confirms in some of the public that the NBA is a league of thugs.
