@  YaoMan : (23 October 2015 - 04:49 PM) Zach Lowe seems to think the Rox are the biggest threat to GSW: http://grantland.com...-16-nba-season/
@  cointurtlemoose : (23 October 2015 - 04:36 PM) Hey if yall want a good podcast to listen to, find the Dunc'd On Basketball Podcast on Itunes, Rahat just did a Rockets preview with the host.
@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.

New post: Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics come to town
    By: Rahat Huq

I link this video basically every time the Boston Celtics come to Toyota Center because...well, it's one of my favorite memories from modern Rockets history.  When people think about The Streak, some think about Steve Novak's game winner, some think about the unlikely contributions by a host of characters, and others remember that we both lost Yao for the season and also got back Tracy McGrady in the midst of the whole thing.  But I think about this skirmish.  It represents, simultaneously, the emotional high and sensitivity the team was enduring through the entire ordeal.  They were playing at such a level, in winning that bulk of games consecutively, that any minor frustration could cause a boiling point.

Rondo comes back tonight, much older, hobbled, and without his mates, to take on a vastly superior Houston Rockets team.  With Ricky Rubio and Eric Bledsoe now both baving been inked to extensions by their teams, Rondo remains the sole trade target on the point guard market.  The feisty point guard showed on opening night that he still has it, and I've become convinced that a James Harden - Rondo pairing, coupled with the contributions of Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza, would vault the Rockets to the top of the West standings.  But how much is too much to give up in a trade?  It's a delicate balance.  I would have hated to have seen the team give up all three of Terrence Jones, the Pelicans pick, and Big Papa, only to see the latter explode onto the trajectory track upon which he seems to have placed himself.

    @Rahat

can T-Jones get some love please. after watching that game I am convinced he is the closest thing we have to a legit PF. he looks poised to take another step to me.

He's been tremendous so far, no doubt.  But I want to see him do it against a good team first before I feel confident he can help us in the playoffs. We're in trouble if McHale has to keep benching him in the 4th quarter of close games against star power forwards.  Let's see what he does this week.

I have been impressed with his 3pt shooting and defensive improvement.

          A. He has taken 6 shots so far. So hard to say if jones has improved in that area. His form and technique is still slow and ugly.
          B. He hasn't faced anyone of a good PF yet. Soul linger pushed him around in the post.

He has done great and feasted on poor PF but we need to look at how he does against playoffs teams. Especially those in the West.

I keep alluding to it, and Eby wrote about it recently, but I just don't think waiting for Terrence to "defend" Blake Griffin, Aldridge, or whoever means much of anything.  He is going to get scorched on those nights because those guys are freaking amazing.  Don't believe me?  Go scroll through Griffin's game logs HERE and tell me different.  He had about a dozen "off" games last year and aside from Indiana and Memphis (who sport excellent team defense) it looks pretty random--as in everyone has off nights sometimes.

The thing to watch is does Jones completely disappear, or can he still make an impact on the game.  Still, I fully expect a litany of posts the first time Jones gets lit up.    I'm with Eby on this one.

Obviously it'd be great if he was serge ibaka but he just isn't. However if he can go at blake and other elite pfs on offense and get some cheap fouls and get them frustrated thats probably his best chance against those guys that generally can't be stopped but most of the time its going to be on Harden to out score em.
