@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.

@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK
@  rockets best... : (14 September 2015 - 02:29 AM) I agree totally. I got to watch his Rocket days and the man was a hell of a player. BIG MO R.I.P.

Should Daryl Morey feel the pressure to trade sooner rather than later?

Since we are way off topic I will try to bring us back around.  Should we trade sooner than later and, if so, what are we shopping for?

We've already touched on Rondo.  The field is split on him, but I think most agree we can move forward with Beverley.  This would be especially true if we acquired a solid upgrade at PF.  Chase Budinger's name has been thrown around as well.  Greg Monroe has come up again. Let's discuss.

I haven't had a chance to see Monroe this season.  I am curious to see how he has improved both individually and how he improves by simply having a coach that knows what he's doing.  I watched quite a few Detroit games last season (largely for fantasy b-ball purposes) and they have way more talent than their record/performance indicates.  Monroe is a skilled big who isn't quick, but he isn't slow either.  I would say his best attributes are rebounding, interior passing, and a decent post game.  If he has added some mid-range (at least out to 18') then that adds some value.  He certainly helped Drummond last season by drawing defensive attention and either putting up a shot that Drummond caould get easy off. rebounds/putbacks, or dropping a nice wrap-around pass for the dunk.  I could see this working well with Dwight in place of Drummond.

The negative?  We have to give up some decent assets to get him.  SVG isn't going to hand him over for a pack of gum.  On top of that, he is looking for max/near max money.  Does anyone think Morey has him valued highly enough to lock himself into that core?  Again, not having soon the new-and-improved Monroe I can't say for sure.  Based off of what I saw last year the answer is no.

I don't think the skill set matches up well enough with Dwight.  We all know Morey wants the stretch 4.  This is why David West isn't happening either.

So, Chase Budinger is on the market.  I won't question that he would be a solid back-up at SF for us.  Papa is a player I like, but he is going to be up and down for us this year whereas I think Bud would be pretty stable.  The problem is what are we willing to give up versus what does Minny want.  They're kind of log-jammed with youth at every position except PG and C (Pek's contract is not going anywhere).  I don't know--there just isn't much I'd be willing to part with that I think they would want.  Capela?

Outside of Rondo (which I'm 50/50 on....I know it makes us better, but I really like Beverley and think he is still improving), the guy I think has Morey's ears perked up is Ryan Anderson.

I doubt he wants to be a sixth man and they aren't moving Anthony Davis out of the line up.  Why let him rot on the bench for the next two years at $8.5M/yr.?  They are desperate for bench depth.  We have too many players.  It's a match made in heaven.

If Morey is going to make a move I like that one a lot.  It mostly affects the end of our bench (and probably one of T-Jones/D-Mo) while giving us the prototype PF Morey is looking for.  Meanwhile, the Pellies will actually have some players to put on the floor when they need to rest their starters.  LINK to their roster page.

On the flip side of all this--I really like our roster and am happy to see how they gel.  Rondo or Anderson-- both would make us better, but I think we are already pretty darn good.

I wouldn't trade for monroe but if he hits FA they should look hard at bringing him in. Ainge still wants the world for rondo and he may not be as good as he was so thats one to wait out. If Anderson is moreys guy sooner is better.

      I agree.

I believe that Morey could have engineered a trade for Monroe at points in the past if it was a player he wanted. Rondo is too risky for the price and I am iffy about how he would affect team chemistry and dynamics. Anderson is the perfect fit in a perfect scenario, we definitely could offer the bench depth they need and we would solve our conundrum by putting Jones or Dmo on the bench for a few more seasons where they really belong. Don't they owe us something anyway for giving them probably the best defensive center in the league (IMO)?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO to Monroe  while I like him, he's not a good fit with us. if we are going to trade for a PF in this weak PF market Al Horford should be who we are chasing. anything else is uncivilized  My problem with trading for a PF is "he needs to actually be better than T-Jones or D-Mo to justify giving up good assets" I feel both will improve this year and if McHale uses them right ( I know that's a BIG IF ) he can get the best of both and this IMO will be enough to fill the PF position. both IMO are ready to take a step. don't forget T-Jones had a stretch during January where he was looking like the answer. I have been critical of D-Mo in the past and he still has a long way to go, but I believe I am finally seeing the needle move in the scope of his eventual development. that's encouraging to me. Budinger  is a injury looking for a place to happen. I ain't mad ( keep getting them checks big fella ) but he would be a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME for us. we already have players who can duplicate his skillset at cheaper contracts who don't have injury histories. case closed. JG I agree our course of action should be nothing for the moment unless something just drops into our laps. we need to take the team we have now and find out what we have. we have good assets and time is on our side. lets see where we are weakest before selling the farm
