@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.

@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK

With the trade deadline approaching in a few weeks, I think that given that this community is in its infancy stages, the tidiest way to handle things would be to put all trade news in one thread. That will allow anyone to check back in the same place.

Please note that discussion of hypothetical trade scenarios should still go in the Hypothetical Trade Scenarios thread.

Thanks, and hopefully, as has been the case every year, there will be much to discuss on the Rockets front.

According to FOX Sports' Sam Amico, the Houston Rockets have spoken to the Minnesota Timberwolves about a possible trade for Michael Beasley, who the Wolves are likely looking to move the forward and his $6.2 million price tag to make room for up-and-coming forward Derrick Williams.

I think I'd love to see Beasley in a Rockets uniform. He's got so much untapped potential, and who knows? Maybe all it takes for him is another change of environment and fun-lovin' Coach Kevin on the sidelines instead of the strict headmaster type Adelman?

I'd be a little concerned about Beasley - we've got a lot of young players in our squad and I wouldn't really want his gunning ways to rub off on them. However, most of our players are pretty sensible, level-headed guys so maybe we'd be able to tame him. I get the impression that he needs a lot of attention to get the best out of him...dunno if he's going to be able to get that in the shortened season.

        From http://blog.chron.co...ers-attention/:

The Rockets are among the many teams making pitches for Dwight Howard, and as with their interest in Carmelo Anthony last season, they would make the deal without an agreement on a contract extension, confident they could come to an agreement later. The Magic, who stand third in the Eastern Conference, seem increasingly less inclined to do a deal just to make the best out of possibly losing Howard.

A year ago, the Rockets unsuccessfully went hard after many deals for a defensive center and a physical forward. They likely could make another run at Chicago’s Omer Asik and Portland’s Gerald Wallace. The Bulls have been as hesitant to make the move for a shooting guard, but Asik will be a free agent this summer. The Trail Blazers’ front-office situation makes it unclear if they will make widespread changes.

The Rockets were in the middle of talks for Chris Kaman, but those talks have cooled since he returned to the Hornets.

[Moved from the NBA trade rumours thread]

So, ESPN are reporting that we've picked up Marcus Camby.

Given that the cost was only Flynn, Thabeet and a second round pick, I'm pretty chuffed with that. Camby's getting on a bit, but I think it's a one season deal - I believe his contract is expiring? Shores up our frontcourt (means we can have a constant shotblocking presence), which can only be a good thing. It definitely seems like a 'win now' kind of move, which I like. Also suggests something else is in the works, because I don't think Camby will be enough to put us over the top.

Does mean we don't have a backup point guard until Lowry is healthy again, but I think we should be able to cobble together the minutes of Flynn from Courtney Lee - yeah he's not a point guard, but it's not as if Flynn was doing much other than initiating the offense so I don't think it changes much. Maybe we turn Parsons into a point forward? :P

Ken Berger@KBergCBS Source confirms: Lakers send Derek Fisher and first-round pick to Rockets for Jordan Hill. It's Dallas' 2012 first.

Aaand now I'm seeing that we've also obtained Derek Fisher from the Lakers. Full deal, according to the twitter reports, is:

          Lakers send:
          Derek Fisher
          Dallas 2012 first round pick

          Rockets send:
          Jordan Hill

I can live with that - in totality we've made the following moves:

Out: Hill, Thabeet, Flynn, Future Second Round Pick
In: Fisher, Camby, Dallas' 2012 First Round Pick

Trading some of that 09'er depth for some veterans works for me. They might make a difference this season. Camby is an expiring contract, so no long term impact. Fisher has two years left, so maybe we can flip him for something next year.

Fisher is probably too old to make a huge difference now, but he's an upgrade over Flynn for the backup point guard minutes until Lowry gets back. Hopefully then he won't have much to do after that...

Worth noting that if Minnesota step up their game, that Dallas pick might be a lottery one! :P

          Seems unlikely though.

I wonder what Scola and Fisher's relationship is like? I know it was a long time ago, but i wont forget the smackdown fisher put on scola a few years ago in the playoffs.
