@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.

@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK

Why do people have so much hope in Canaan.  I know its the promise land, but it took people 40 years to get there.  For better or worst, the playoffs will go thru Lin.

I think a lots of the LIN bashers are hoping to have anyone playing ahead of LIN. There ain't no way Canaan is ready...saying an unknown entity will make us better is.... :(

      @Steven

I agree Canaan is a better basketball player from what I have seen (small sample size).  this may turn out to be a case where a player gets his chance and grabs it and refuses to turn loose much the same way Parsons took Buddinger's job a couple years ago.

RBF - your are wrong....chances are not given out to unproven player at playoff time OR Rockets will be done in round 1.

Just so we're clear.  There are only two people (by my count) who truly want Canaan to start because they think he is better than Lin.  They are entitled to their opinions.  So, all these "Lin Bashers" (both of them)  do not constitute some great group of oppressors.

I'm not on the Canaan train yet, but I've got my wallet out ready to buy my ticket. :)

I think he is going to give serious competition for playing time on next year's squad.

Terrance Jones was given a chance last season with roughly 10 games to go, he was very good coming off the bench in those games. Jones used those minutes to catapult himself into the starting lineup.

The Knicks were floundering with no PG play when they gave minutes to some Asian kid who had been on the end of the bench all season, and was a week away from being cut so that his contract didn't become fully guaranteed. He then went onto ro create a media driven sensation, and a household name.

Unproven players will always be unproven unless you give them a shot. With the Rockets seeding pretty much in order, give the kids minutes to build on for next year.

Canaan will now be "proven" over the next few weeks simply because there's no one else.  The open question though is this.  Is he proven "good" or "not so good".  I certainly won't be jumping on any bandwangon anytime soon based on what I've seen so far. People always seem to hope that the unknown (Canaan) is better than the known (Lin).  In the next couple weeks, we'll know more.  But really, placing high hopes in Canaan is a bit too much at this stage of the game.

          My 2 cents.

So what would call, telling the world (this forum is worldwide ain't it) that he would be the starter come playoff time, before the season even started?

40.5% from 3. Better get on before the bandwagon takes off.

I've been enjoying Canaan's play.  I don't mind the little mistakes/bad passes.  He is playing with confidence on both ends of the court.  Even though he is under-sized I like his defensive effort--which is all you can ask.

I like his decision-making too.  He seems to have a good feel for when to pass, drive, shoot, or re-set.  Daryl Morey will soon be basking in the glow of all the praise he will get for this pick.  We should just start calling him "Number Two" for all of his great 2nd round picks.  He'll like that, right?

Not sure what you're asking but I don't think he's starting material yet, or even this season.   The level of difficulty will go up 2X in the playoffs. The rookie has potential.  In the remaining games, he can get some quantity garbage minutes to hone his skills.

TROY DANIELS and ROBERT COVINGTON. Morey king of the underground D-league and lord of undrafties. You're looking at the future rockets bench. Imagine a team that shoots the most 3s in the league and shoots them well.

I won't lie, I've been impressed with Canaan so far, and his compadres from the Vipers don't look like slouches either. I'm excited about being able to throw those bench players into the mix during garbage time in the future. They almost snuck a win after being down by 22, and that looked a large part due to sweet shooting from behind the arc and up-tempo play in general. If they continue hitting the deep ball at a good clip, I could see them becoming a part of the regular rotation.
