@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.

i would give up asik + supplemental pieces for deng, but definitely not lin. that's a raw deal.

well i guess you could trade lin if  morey absolutely fleeces some team, but i dont know if that will happen again.

I'd love to trade Asik and Lin for Deng, Brand, and a 1st pick from Atlanta. Healthy Bev and Brooks are more than capable to fill the PG position. We got a veteran back up big and an elite parameter defender in Deng. But i don't think it's wise to change the roster radically in the middle of season while we are trying to contending. Asik and Lin are 2 of 5 best Rockets.

Why would we do this?  We play in the WC.  You want to put Deng at PF?  That is already our problem.  The WC is already loaded with big/tall PF that Terrence already has a hard enough time keeping up with (see griffin, LMA, Love, Dirk, Timmy, Z Bo, etc).  Also, if he is played at pf then how would that help our perimeter D which for some is a major selling point.  Don't want that expensive of a bench player. I like Deng, just don't see how he would help this team that much.  Just get healthy and play please Asik.

What do Chandler Parsons, Luol Deng and Omri Casspi have in common?

They are 6'9" and 220-225 pounds.

The Bulls NEVER play Deng at the PF spot.

Rockets fans know from experience how much trouble Parsons and Casspi have guarding opposing teams big PF's.

Plus Deng is a restricted FA at the end of this season.

I have asked this question before in other forums on this board?

Can the Rockets afford to pay BOTH Parsons and Deng? And why would they anyway?

Ah well, Trade Deadline is still something like 7 weeks away so lots more speculation to come.

Thankfully, Morey runs the Rockets and I just don't see him even for one second considering trading for Deng.

I am amazed how many people are still willing and want so badly to see Lin get traded, especially with the Rockets being shorthanded at PG currently with Beverly out. In addition to, the fact that Lin is much improved from last season.

Lastly, has anyone taken a moment to review the Hawks current roster of players?

The only 2 big's the Hawks have that the Rockets would have interest in are Paul Milsap and Al Horford. Well, Horford is out for the year so scratch that trade. Milsap? As I have mentioned previously in other forums, why in the world would the Hawks even consider trading away their prized free agent acquisition after such a short stint in Atlanta? Unrealistic.

In my opinion, the only way the Hawks end up with Asik is if there is a 3rd team involved and the Rockets possibly get one of the Hawks first round draft picks (although very doubtful it would be a lottery pick as weak as the East is this year) in addition to ?? from the 3rd team. Unless the first round pick is a potential lottery pick, why would the Rockets even consider the trade?

Since it's increasingly hard to think of Asik as anything but a scratch, I could see this deal if Morey had another deal on the side for a PG: Deng is a massive upgrade to Casspi in the swing rotation. What if Hinrich was sent to the Rox (his contract and Deng's are expiring)? But I can't imagine doing it otherwise.

Bynum is in some trouble in Cleveland and might be on his way out.  What about the following trade?

http://espn.go.com/n...tradeId=oxlfjx5 plus one of Cleveland's 5 first round draft picks over next 2 years to Houston.

Cleveland get's a big man to build around for the future and the best player of the group (Garnett is old and Bynum is injury-riddled) and get something for Bynum.

Brooklyn gets a big man since Lopez went down but are not committed to any salary next season if it doesn't work out.  Also lets them shed Garnett's salary.

Houston gets a veteran big man to work with 2nd unit (I think Garnett would agree to go to a potential contender) plus that first round pick they are looking for in return. (I personally like the 2015 Memphis pick if we could get it as its guaranteed to be picks 6-14 for next two years before switching to top 5 protected)

Contract is a little rough, and offensively he is not as good as he used to be.  However, he is still a solid rebounder and defender and actually has a good assist ratio.  Coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes a game and playing against 2nd units, I think he would be serviceable.  He comes off the books in 2015 when we need to resign Parsons.

For everyone's information, the NBA's income this season is a lot higher than expected. The early projected salary cap for the 2014-2015 season is roughly $63.5m.

If Michael Ma's rumors are true (I have my doubts), with Asik and Lin off that books, the Rockets should have roughly $20m in cap space (give or take). The Rockets could give Chandler Parsons and Luol Deng each a contract starting at around $9m per year.

I'd rather get Korver back from ATL than a pick. Would be an upgrade over Garcia in my opinion and his shooting gives a whole new dimension to the team.

Garnett would likely waive that no trade clause to reunite with McHale and go after a championship. His defense and veteran presence would be great as a backup C and a few minutes at PF if we're facing a bigger team in the playoffs like Portland. Good midrange shot to space the floor enough next to Dwight. Contract is kind of big but ends after next season, and Asik will get more total money than Garnett next year.

With all the C problems in the east (Brooklyn, Atlanta, Cleveland), Morey has lots of leverage in constructing an Asik deal. Can't wait to see what he gets this time...

now i dont get on here very much and this is really kicking a dead horse. however while watching the NOP game last night i noticed the pelicans have an over abundance of 4s and are in dire need on a true 5, they play dwight, duncan, and gasol/randolph (pardon me if im wrong) 12 times total....

                      food for thought

                      http://espn.go.com/n...tradeId=ldbyeow

the celtics are looking for more explosion and also maybe looking to dump rondo and green

the pelicans cant guard any true 5s in the west much less theyre own division(randolph to me is an undersized 5 IMO)

and the rockets get lock down defenders in green and lee, solve the asik/cry baby conumdrum, get someone willing to back up dwight with monster d @ college( blocks and rebounds always seen to translate to the pro game), true stretch 4 so we can bring jones off bench, and green/lee to take garcia/casspi's spot(both are really cold and garcias really old so i dont use the excuse not in midseason form yet).

Then we trade the expendables at that point and maybe, just maybe take a look at that daniels guy in the Dleague, guys shooting somewhere around 90% ft, 45% from 3 (80 made in 14 games doesnt sound flukish....

like i said food for though...

like i said food for though...

Not likely for multiple reasons IMO:

                        1)  That is a lot of players involved for there not to be a superstar.

                        NOLA:

                        2)  NOLA just went all in for Jrue Holliday at PG during last draft.

                        Hou:

                        3)  That is way to much salary commitment to bench players (Lee, Green) for the next 3 years and are not going to be easy to move meaning you are going to end up losing someone like Parsons most likely

                        4)  With the progress Jones is making, Anderson is not worth that contract (offense is proving it doesn't need a true stretch 4, just someone that has to be respected at 3 point line)

                        5)  Not a good enough deal for Morey to send Asik to team in Western conference, and definitely not in same division

                        6)  PG position will have to be manned by Beverly/Brooks (both of whom are hurt) which is serious downgrade

                        Bos:

                        7)  Eric Gordon has only played 107 out of 246 games in the previous 3 seasons and his hurt again this year and on contract for 3 years (basically turned Green/Lee bad contracts into a single bad contract in the form of a player that may not see the court for half the season)

                        8)  Rivers is now 3rd string on NOLA, shooting poorly and is not a good defender

                        9)  DMO can't crack the rotation in Houston despite only current competition being SF/PF Cassipi right now with Asik and Smith hurt
