Will Kyle Lowry make the All-Star team?

I think it depends on the team success. You can pencil in Paul and Kobe as the starters. After that, I think there's some openings at the guards. Parker/Ginobili aren't guarantees. Neither is anyone on the Mavericks. Westbrook will get a nod. Roy is out of the race.
If the Rockets are in the running, Lowry is the dark horse candidate.

As for new selections there are vets looking for a recent or first selection: Monta, Kevin Martin. There is also young players who might breakout or continue to breakout from the previous season such as Eric Gordon, Westbrook (maybe a given), OJ Mayo, and Steph Curry. I might be missing one or two other players but I think that Lowry has a hopeful chance this year.

I think Lowry has as good of a chance as any of those named guys. Other than Paul and Kobe, there aren't "locks" left in the West.Maybe. Deron moved to the East. Roy is retired. I don't think Billups will be selected nor will Jason Kidd. Nash is one year older as well.

I give Westbrook and EG a higher chance. Westbrook because all he really needs to do is have OKC be high in standings (great chance) and keep the flashy stats from the previous season. As for EG, the Hornets are pretty bad so he will have tons of room to simply take over a bigger load and gain those stats. He won't win the fan voting but he is given the keys to half of a team that needs scoring.

I think Westbrook gained a pretty negative reputation after last year's playoffs.I give Westbrook and EG a higher chance. However, Lowry might have a chance if Kobe can't play (given his recent injury history and the current wrist injury, not to mention the needed rest, this is definitely a possibility.) I could actually see a lot of veterans sitting this year with the crazy schedule.

But with coaches voting for the reserves, I think Lowry actually has a chance as he plays D and keeps turnovers down. The casual fan would never vote for him, but I think coaches would appreciate him over Monta Ellis.I tend to think one of the Warriors (Curry or Ellis), Gordon, and Westbrook will get the guard spots.

It's scary right now how good he's playing. He's like a pure, do-it-all point guard with his passing, rebounding and overall leadership. He also doesn't turn the ball over. Many of us were clamoring for Chris Paul in the summer but maybe it's a blessing in disguise we didn't get him? Sure he's better than Lowry of course, noone's arguing that, but Lowry comes at a fraction of the cost and without the injury concerns.16-9-8 in 27 minutes tonight.

Am I crazy to see I'd rather have Lowry (locked up long term) than Paul? It's scary right now how good he's playing. I don't know, I think all it takes is a few people talking about someone on a winning team and it catches fire. I think he has a chance since the coaches do the voting. They're the ones doing the game-planning against the Rockets and know he's their key to winning. With the way Lowry is playing there is no doubt that he is playing at a level capable of being considered an All-Star. Sadly though, as with other sports as well, it's a popularity contest and that doesn't bode well.

I hope you're right, if he continues how he has started there is a chance. My only issue is that there are bigger more established names out there that the fans will be voting for, and since Houston hasn't really "competed" for the last couple years I dont believe we have as large a viewing audience to support him. As you mentioned, with coach voting accounting for the nonstarters though there is an opportunity which hopefully will be taken advantage of.

After that, the spots are up for grabs.
If the Rockets are top 5 in the conference, they´ll earn at least one player: either Lowry or Scola. Scola´s chances are better since Duncan won´t make it this year; although that probably means Lamarcus Aldrigde gets his first call.

Why do you see Manu as a lock? He's severely on the decline.I see the three locks are Paul, Kobe and Manu.
