Why don't we trade him to Milwaukee with 2 second rounders for Ersan Ilyasova? Milwaukee's GM apparently likes centers and 2nd rounders

Who knows, but there should be a team out there that wants Asik enough to either move a good SF or potential lottery pick top 5 protected. It's not like Asik is garbage..
trust me there is plenty of interest in Asik. as soon as the news broke that Asik ask for a trade the Rockets phone probably lit up like a Christmas tree Asik is a commodity that is in short supply in the league. the problem is gauging his value. what is he worth? some think he can get a star when combined with other assets. some believe he is only worth a mid level exemption player. I'm sure the Rockets have an opinion closer to the first one. if the Rockets do elect to move him there will be no shortage of interested teams

I think the hope with Bogut is he puts up great numbers in limited minutes and manages to avoid injury due to his limited minutes. We get to rent him for the year and let him walk or do a sign and trade before next season. I forgot to add Barnes to the trade which would end up being the piece we are really trading for. I think he makes a scary pairing with Chandler at the wing/stretch 4 spot. Miami showed that you can play a season with a big wing as your 4 and not get murdered defensively. But Battier broke down in the playoffs. I think keeping that position fresh with a Parsons/Barnes/Caspi rotation makes us very dangerous. But again I see very little possibility of the trade.
And if we could get Bosh for Asik and filler we make that trade all day. Bosh gets a bad rap but he is just as essential to that team's success as Wade if not more so. I think if Miami were to brake up the big three Wade is the one who get shipped out if he won't take a significantly reworked deal.
I might even go for Bogut/Barnes for Asik if we could guarantee he would be healthy......even in limited minutes. the man is an injury looking for a place to happen. he just injured his back in practice yesterday. PRATICE.... his body is a train wreck that leaves us with a downgrade at backup center

Barnes would be an upgrade over Garcia.
true ,but we don't need an upgrade there. Garcia serves our purpose just fine. I think the hole left at backup Center out weighs any minor gain of Barnes over Garcia

Asik for rent a bogut and overrated Barnes. I'm good. Now Barnes hasn't been as overrated as say butler but then again SanFran isn't Chicago. I just don't see Barnes as the star everyone portrays him as, a good role player or an alright starter but he's still too young to be of an asset to our title window contention.
I clearly see Barnes value.......problem is we already have his skillset present within the team. if we are going to move Asik it has to be for something we don't have.

if I'm not mistaken.....out of the league

I agree we already have 90-95% of this years version of Barnes on the roster with Garcia and Omri. But Barnes is on another level with his athleticism. If he can prove he is a basketball player and an athletic freak then trading for him would be buying in completely on a Miami style small ball only with a legit rim protecting double team demanding big in Howard.
I think we are overvaluing what we can get in the market for Asik since he isn't a great roll man in the pick and roll. If he can start the season as just league average on the catch rolling towards the basket, then the Rockets can be very choosy in their trade offers. But I have to believe he will continue to be a sub par roll man off the pick and roll, which is what will keep other teams from pulling the trigger.

It seems like people think that because he's unhappy he'll be traded. No, if he's ineffective he'll be traded.
But.those 26 combined rebounds (Howard/Asik) tell me there's no way we're sending asik away unless K love is coming back.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as either Omer or Dwight are on the floor at any given time throughout the game, this team will have a huge edge at the defensive end of the floor for the entire game. (Dwight is prone to foul trouble, so Asik might get more floor time in those games.) This will take some pressure off of Harden, Parsons, Lin, in regard to performing at the highest level at the offensive end of the floor.

I don't see a good stretch 4 making us better than 20 minutes of asik off the bench.

WELCOME to the forum I disagree. I keep hearing......not just from you but many......the need to have Asik for the15 minutes that D12 is resting and while that's a nice luxury, how many teams are going to have the players on their second unit to really exploit those minor few minutes? by trading Asik we are trading a player who can give us15 good minutes for a player who can give us 30. that's a no-brainer to me

Teams sure did find a way to exploit it last year when Asik was off the court, so I would imagine it would be the same with Dwight if we didn't have Asik backing him up.

true, yet we still won. however all teams experience that fall off when their starters sit. few teams have a backup who is of the same quality as their starter. the second unit is usually charged with holding down the fort until the starters return. we have capable players to do that
