Looks like I was right about being wrong, I hate to say I told you so but Coon's the CBA guy, he doesn't get these kind of things wrong.
The problem with your math is you don't have the space holders. Each empty spot in the roster counts the league minimum towards the salary cap. Gotta have a league minimum 12 players so you have to add 4 league min salaries.
So now we're back to what I was saying earlier, we need to move Royce White with Thomas Robinson otherwise it doesn't work. If no one is willing to take Royce White then chances are we're going to move Asik. I definately don't want to move Terrence Jones or DMo.
There's a silver lining to moving Asik though, I mean besides getting Dwight, we will get to keep Greg Smith, James Anderson, and Thomas Robinson. If we give Thomas Robinson time to develop we might be able to get better value when we trade him, and I know some of us have grown pretty fond of Greg Smith.

do you really believe a few cap holds will stop the rockets? besides if the cap does rise to at least 60 mil it may give them that wiggle room.....the math is using the 58 mil cap. each minimum cap hold is worth 474 thousand. if the cap rises to 60 mil they will have room to hold 5 minimum player cap holds and still sign him to a max deal.

The cap will be 58.5 million, this is what the NBA has told the GM's.

the NBA doesn't figure the cap until july 1st. any information coming out now is speculation because the NBA season is still in progress and final revenues have not been tallied. this is why the NBA will stop all operations from july 1st to july 10th so these numbers can be calculated.
