I'm still happy with McHale, overall, and am excited to see what an off season together can bring. I also hope that we can keep the staff together--Sampson, Bickerstaff, etc.

Agreed, the idea of McHale having a whole off-season with these guys is pretty exciting.

Alexander praised McHale, staff. They've talked. McHale has 2 more yrs on contract. "Kevin has done a great job. He’s not going anywhere."

this playoff series has given me hope that McHale might figure it out. I would say I'm on the fence right now on him.
you can only warn a man that the bridge is out.....if he keeps driving he's on his own

I changed mine from yes he should to no he shouldn't. His rotation costs the Rockets the chance to win the series.
How do you figure? He was the reason this team was even in this series by switching to Garcia and a small ball lineup

Two Words. Greg Smith. And playing a injured Lin in a critical game.

That is called injured Delfino and someone has to relieve Asik.

Unrealistic expectations and judgements can't be reasoned with...
I'm glad McHale played Lin. That is not why we lost the game. Lin took one shot in the fourth quarter (a miss). We lost the game in that quarter and that quarter alone. What is relevant is the shooting of Durant, Martin, and Fisher--especially in that fourth quarter. The law of averages had to come into play--these guys are professionals and they weren't going to continue shooting below average forever. Meanwhile, Harden shot 2-6, Parsons was 1-2, Garcia was 0-3, Asik was 0-2, James Anderson was 1-1, and Beverley was 2-4. That is a combined 6-19 of which Lin was but one shot. OKC shot 10-18. That's your game.
In thinking about McHale, the success he had this year has made his job that much harder. I think it is fair to say all of us have raised expectations for next year. McHale must now live up to and try to exceed these expectations in a still tough Western conference. OKC, SA, LAC, MEM, DEN, GSW and POR will all be good next year. Who knows where LAL, DAL, and UTA land....either way, just cracking the top 8 will be a tough road. Yet, I think we all believe a foray into the second round next year is not out of the question. If this doesn't happen, people will be calling for McHale's head regardless of circumstance.
Meanwhile, George Karl just got bounced in the first round by a very inexperienced GS team....I don't think anyone is calling for his head....

Yeah, I think McHale has the requisite amount of aloofness to not let it bother him. He is confident in himself and his plan.
That's hilarious about Jackson...
