I agree. Its a great way to visualize multi-dimensional data. I was initially trying to figure out a way to export a motion chart I created in Excel to an animated Flash file, but that doesn't seem possible. Then I remembered Commodore's clutchfans post. I neglected to properly credit Commodore's discovery of this gadget before, but I just added that to the post.

Props durvasa for a nice extension of Commodore's work. Development of interfaces like this should help a lot in getting people to understand basketball stats better. I am starting to think time series data may be more valuable than advanced, but static, metrics for evaluating players (e.g. season long PER).

I suppose Rahat will have more to say on this in the coming days. As for where the Rockets go from here, there's no benefit on the Rockets side to rush a trade through, so I don't expect moves in the coming weeks. I also don't expect any trades of major rotation players, though if I had to peg one of them as trade bait it would be Scola.

Big time Fail. I totally understand your “statistical” “analytical” approach to the game of basketball, but come on – are you serious??? Tracy McGrady, the alleged savior of the Rockets franchise in 2004, is done, banished from the team, and you can't even post a one sentence perspective on it? Yes, everybody is talking about it, but your blog lacks emotion. I can't even tell if you are a fan or not. How about discussing where the Rockets move from here? Something. Who gives a damn about the X's and O's at this point – McGrady is finally gone. How about throwing out a theory who is expendable in a trade with an analytical twist? Scola, Brooks? Come on man. I'll give you two more weeks, or else i'm sticking to Dreamshake. Good luck.
