An in-depth assessment of Houston Rockets guard Jonny Flynn

I’ve seen a lot of bad basketball players during my time watching the Houston Rockets.  They’re usually raw big men forced into playing the game due to their innate gifts.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a point guard quite as bad as Jonny Flynn.  When watching him play, I almost have to wonder if he’s ever even seen the team’s playbook.

For those of you who have not yet suffered the misfortune of watching Jonny Flynn attempt to run the Houston Rockets’ offense, I’ve broken down his play with a handy diagram:

Just watch as Jonny is trapped and can't see over the defenders to pass to a team mate.

As a Timberwolves fan I feel sorry for you guys. You got the coach that we didn't want and a player we didn't want while we ended up with the much better coach. You can take our GM (david kahn) if you want and we can even throw in Wes Johnson if you'd like.

Dribble off his own foot though maybe he fixed that problem this year.

This is what I want to know. How can you dog out Flynn so much, and leave Terrence Williams out.

Our glorious prospect "T-Will" doesn't do much of anything right. For someone who is supposed to be a finisher, he misses half of his drives to the basket. For someone that is supposed to be a good passer or disher, he throws God-awful errant passes.

And you want to talk about someone not knowing playbook? That's Terrence Williams. I say package him in a deal ASAP, and use whatever sort of trade value he has now. Because, it would seem to me that it's diminishing every game!

cdot10 I slightly agree with you on this one. He does have a hard time for some reason learning our system, especially since chandler parson's is getting the minutes he should be having. Where i disagree is the fact that Johnny Flynn is as bad as this diagram makes him. I honeslty wanted us to keep Jeremy Lin and let Flynn go. T Will has at least shown flashes of what we expect to get from the 1st round pick and i still have faith (not too much but a little) that he can figure it out before the season is over. But i do also agree that if we can package him to get an upgrade we need to do it this year and early, because if he doesn't produce this year it will hard to ship him anywhere after the season.

I think Flynn over Lin was more about the fact that Flynn has a guaranteed contract. p_pelle cdot10

No he really hasn't. He can hit wide open 3 pointers at a passable rate, but he can't seem to dribble or pass. rahathuq cdot10
