Huq’s Pen: Replacing Adelman would be colossal mistake

via Rick Adelman’s magic is tough to describe, but it’s still magic | SportsJustice | Chron.com – Houston Chronicle:

I’m guessing Adelman won’t be back with the Rockets next season. His contract is up, and he has expressed some uncertainty about coming back. Leslie Alexander is believed to want someone else.

Interesting, disappointing, but given Alexander’s handling of the Van Gundy situation, not surprising at all.  If Rick Adelman would like to remain as head coach of the Houston Rockets, it would be extremely foolish to force him out.  His body of work speaks for itself: he’s squeezed every last ounce of production out of injury-plagued rosters during his tenure here as head coach; he’s oversaw the development of various young players; he guided the team to its first second round-berth since Sam Mack was still relevant.

It would be beyond foolish to replace Adelman.  Outside of possibly former Rockets head coach Jeff Van Gundy, there simply are not better options on the market, and it’s debatable whether those two parties would desire a reconciliation.  Change for the mere sake of it is rarely good, especially when results have been evident.
