Houston Rockets retain center Chuck Hayes

The Houston Chronicle reports:

The Rockets plan to pick up the option on the final season of Hayes’ contract, a person with knowledge of the decision said Friday, keeping Hayes, 26, from becoming a free agent. The move indicates as much about the Rockets’ thinking in general as about Hayes and the one season and $2.334 million remaining on his contract.

Obviously a no-brainer.  At $2.3million, Hayes is one of the best bargains in the league.

NICE! we need him!!

NICE!! we need hayes!

I dont see him getting alot of playing time with a healthy Yao, but we still need his defense, in case of an injury or a player in foul trouble. If we do get Bosh i would rather give up Scola who is an older proven starter, but with Bosh and a healthy Yao his minutes will be cut. I would also trade Battier and keep Ariza, unless it comes down to Bud or Ariza, then I say trade Ariza.. We should keep Brooks and Lowry and trade away the draft pick.

Hopefully they sign him and then trade his sorry butt.
