@  rocketrick : (18 July 2018 - 03:40 PM) Terrible deal for Toronto IMO. Still, they needed to do something diiferent after firing the NBA Coach of the Year Casey and being demolished for the 3rd time in 3 years by Cleveland.
@  Mario Peña : (18 July 2018 - 01:35 PM) Thank the basketball gods that Leonard is out of the West. That’s a handful of less nights Beard and co. have to face his defense.
@  rocketrick : (12 July 2018 - 03:49 PM) I seriously doubt OKC will stretch Carmelo as that keeps them in the Luxury Tax going forward. Bite the bullet this year, then things begin to improve for OKC regarding Salary Cap next season and beyond.,,,, OKC will waive Carmelo, that is all but a given at this point. Deadline to do so is August 31 so they may try to play it out for awhile yet....
@  DenverRocket : (11 July 2018 - 10:15 PM) James Ennis 2 years according to Shams
@  rocketrick : (10 July 2018 - 06:57 PM) Only reasonable choice is that OKC waives Carmelo straight out. Then OKC saves over $100 million in luxury tax and salary. Again, I feign cluelessness
@  rocketrick : (10 July 2018 - 06:52 PM) It is only MONEY just like Pink Floyd back in the day. Anyway, the NBAPA states the obvious. If the Rockets pay Carmelo the minimum, OKC substracts that amount from their contract due him this year dollar for dollar. Why in the Hell would anybody pay Carmelo above the Vet min8mum because OKC absolutely 100% cover the difference no matter what...
@  rocketrick : (10 July 2018 - 05:03 PM) The Warriors chose to put Capela on the free throw line in the 4th quarter of Game 7 last month. 2-4 I think, maybe 1-4 I can't remember for sure
@  rocketrick : (10 July 2018 - 04:59 PM) Rockets have reportedly offered Capela $58 million for 4 years. Max per the NBAPA is like $80 million. Alternatively, Capela could accept like the $3.7 million qualifying offer for 2018-2019 and become Unrstricted after next season.
@  Mario Peña : (10 July 2018 - 02:56 AM) I’m pretty sure I’ll be in the minority but I think Melo could work.
@  thejohnnygold : (09 July 2018 - 11:01 PM) I wish LA had signed Melo instead :(
@  DenverRocket : (09 July 2018 - 10:49 PM) Mbah a Moute has apparently signed a one year 4.3m contract with the Clippers
@  rocketrick : (07 July 2018 - 05:02 PM) Remember the name Trevon Duval. I have no doubt Trevon is on the Rockets roster going forward. Once he figures out an outside shot....watch out!
@  rocketrick : (07 July 2018 - 04:52 PM) World Cup is getting interesting.... Russia (assuming they defeat Croatia) vs. England, France and Belgium...I digress.....
@  rocketrick : (07 July 2018 - 04:33 PM) I meant to say last year's version of Gerald Green who only saw like 10-12 minutes a game in the 2018 playoffs. Can Coach Bzdelik with more time impact Gerald Green on the defensive end moving forward?
@  rocketrick : (07 July 2018 - 04:30 PM) I agree with Cooper on MCW. We just have to remind ourselves he is making the minimum. Similar to Gerald Green. If Gerald Green can buckle down on Defense, he could be a real asset this season going forward....
@  Cooper : (07 July 2018 - 03:02 AM) Id be shocked if MCW sees non garbage time playoff minutes.
@  Mario Peña : (04 July 2018 - 01:50 PM) I think I’m starting to realize that maybe we overvalued Ariza and he was a weakness offensively. Williams could be a good counter to Livingston and Swaggy in those 2nd and 3rd string lineups plus he’s another defender to throw at Curry. The Rocket strategy is relatively effective versus Curry and maybe Williams can help.
@  DenverRocket : (04 July 2018 - 03:45 AM) Good switching defender as Mario mentions and we need a back-up guard to spot the main three. At the low price, it's surely a no brainer?
@  thejohnnygold : (03 July 2018 - 06:50 PM) I don't get it either... :(
@  Mario Peña : (03 July 2018 - 06:49 PM) Looks like he’s had a couple years where he has shot solidly from the corners (36% and one year 39%) and maybe Morey projects him to be a good switching defender. That’s all I can see at a quick glance.

Other than Anderson and his inability to shoot at home, the Rockets starters are pretty set.

The bench needs help in rebounding and playmaking roles.

The Rockets are full of shooters who need to be set up and the Rockets don't have anyone off the bench who can do that. They also need a 3-n-D wing and a rebounding big off the bench.

The bigger problem is D'Antoni and his reluctance to go more than 8 deep.

PG.

Find it hard to accept that D'Antoni will give a 2 Rd pick-or any rookie-significant minutes.

So it's either a FA or trade. The available FAs are either going to be too expensive or cheap shooting PGs who don't set up others very well. We already have Lou Williams,we don't need another cheaper version.

The one FA I'd go after is Shaun Livingston. Can't shoot, but he keeps GS second unit scoring-and it hurts GS :)

Unfortunately he's prob not leaving and may not have fond thoughts of his time here.

Ideally I'd love to swap Williams to Detroit for Ish Smith. D'Antoni's already coached him,Smith loves to set up others. His inabilty to shoot  is lessened if you give him an active big and 3 shooters. Unfortunately Detroit may be trading away their starting PG,so I'd imagine Smith isn't available.

I'd try Minn and offer Harrell for Tyus Smith. Minn could use an energy big like Harrell and I doubt they're ready to give up on Dunn just yet. Tyus is an excellent back-up in short stints, the more he plays the less effective he is.

SG/SF.

I think it's inevitable if Morey strikes out on Hayward that he signs PJ Tucker. The 3-n-D wing that just fits, and could easily be seen as Ariza's replacement.

Me,I's still call Sac and chase Garrett Temple. (NO,I don't have that much of a thing for former Rockets. I don't want Howard,Lin,Dragic,TJones,PPat,D-Mo(love game, hate injuries, too much risk) back. I'd only want Lowry for half of what he wants,or 2-3 yrs,,age issues.)

Hope Lou,a couple of seconds would be enough.

Temple can play SG,SF and PG for short periods of time. Good defender, nice passer, great in lockerroom, can hit 3s. Temple,Gordon form a strong bench comb that can be rotated thru the PG,SG,SF positions.

The FA wing I'd chase is Tim Hardaway Jr. Can do a little of everything, shot .412 corners 3s last yr.

Fun factoid-Atlanta's top 5 player combos in minutes played. All had Howard,Milsap,Shroeder. 4 had some combo of Bazemore,Sefalosha(strong defender, can't shoot) and Hardaway. Bazemore,Hardaway had the same defensive rating as Baze and Stefalosha, but much better offensive rating. Hardaway and Sefalosha had a monster offensive rating and an excellent defensive rating.

Out-of-the blue trade. Let's say Atl goes on and signs Hardaway. I could see a following Ariza,Williams trade for Bazemore.

PF

I'm assuming Nene re-signs.

What to do w/Anderson? When he's hitting 3s the offense is pretty unstoppable. When he's not,the team is playing 4 on 5. the Rockets will have to include the 2018 First to move him(Philly?needs shooters). BTW once July 1 hits,a new season starts and the clock resets on trading consecutive Firsts,so the 2018 is in play.

Dekker is going to be the reserve PF,so hopefully Morey hits on a 2bd Rd pick who actually rebounds in the NBA,not just in college.

Yi's going to be given a chance to show he can get minutes in the NBA.

Starters.....Harden,Bev,Ariza,Anderson,Capella

Rotation...Gordon,Hardaway,Dekker,Nene

Deep Bench....Tyus Jones,T Williams,Yi,Onauku,2 mins,2 Second Rd picks(on new 2-Way contracts
