@  DrewinAbilene : (01 October 2013 - 05:57 PM) Russell Westbrook is out for 4-6 weeks after having a second surgery on his knee.
@  Richards : (29 September 2013 - 08:06 PM) Saw a video with Dream tutoring D-Mo. D-Mo looks better than Harden in post move. But compare to Dream. What a slow motion with frames lock-up..
@  Rahat Huq : (29 September 2013 - 04:52 PM) it's amazing how fluid he still looks, even compared to some of the best players in the league
@  Richards : (29 September 2013 - 01:42 AM) Saw video of Dream teaching Harden post move. Dream still has much much smother move than Harden. Awesome!!!
@  DrewinAbilene : (28 September 2013 - 01:14 AM) Boom! Callin' it: Western Conference Finals after beating the Spurs handily.

@  timetodienow... : (21 September 2013 - 06:22 PM) Rahat, I think if you put a twitter feed on the side of the page, it would be better. Me, personally, I just don't bother scrolling down to try and find somebody to respond to. I like the twitter idea, but the combination didn't work.
@  feelingsuper... : (21 September 2013 - 04:15 PM) Really just not much going on is there?

New post: The Rockets Daily - October 1, 2013
    By: John Eby

Hakeem Unfiltered - Hakeem Olajuwon blogs occasionally at ThePostGame, and he recently shared his thoughts about the coming season. He shared what his role is with the team ("player development specialist"), he said this is the best team in Houston in 15 years (let's hope so), and he shared his thoughts on Dwight:

    Quote:

And while you may not have heard from Dwight recently, I can assure you after spending several days working with him in Aspen, Colo., that he is in a great place mentally. Dwight knows he made the right choice, and he is comfortable with his teammates and coaches. It’s safe to say he is in the best position of his career.

He also praised Jeremy Lin's work ethic in Aspen over the summer (hold that thought). The Dream shared some thoughts after the first practice on his YouTube channel:

In listening to Hakeem talk about James Harden's deceptive strength and how he should work on his post game, I couldn't help but think, "To the hammer, everything looks like a nail." Although seriously, it couldn't hurt for Harden to learn a few post moves for when the pick-and-roll isn't there.

Opposing Views - Grantland's Brett Koremenos is raining on Hakeem's parade. A couple of weeks ago, he penned an arthe'icle questioning the value of Olajuwon's skills workouts.

This week he was on TrueHoop TV talking about the subject again:

Koremenos references Kobe Bryant as the first high-profile player to scale the mountaintop and learn from the post guru, and points out that Bryant probably benefited more from his own work ethic than from the Dream's tutelage. I think he's halfway right, but mostly wrong.

If you're still holding that thought about Lin's work ethic, take it out now. Any skill-development exercise requires hundreds of hours of work beyond the initial instruction.

This concept is understood in the performing arts community, where training sessions can range in length from hours (master classes) to days (Tanglewood Music Festival). Artists attend to gain inspiration or learn techniques from maestros with the understanding that the knowledge will only become a part of their music after arduous work in the months to follow. For some artists, the scales fall from their eyes and they walk away with a better understanding of their craft. Others stumble away feeling like it was a waste of time.

Hakeem isn't pushing a workout system complete with a 12-step plan, a jar of wheat protein and a money-back guarantee. He's teaching master classes. Take it for what it is.

GREAT read and I totally agree with your perspective on the teaching of players by the DREAM. it only works if you work at it. A lot of players talk a good game, but few will put in the necessary time to apply the principals to their games
