@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.

@  Mario Peña : (13 September 2015 - 05:24 PM) Sad to see Moses pass. I don't remember watching him as a Rocket but I do remember his Philly and Hawks teams. He was the perfect man to mentor Dream. It's a very sad day for his family and friends and there are many.

#49087 The keys to the Houston Rockets' season: #2 the Dwight Howard maintenance...

Posted by rockets best fan on Today, 05:12 PM

I wasn't going to touch this thread because I disagree with the assessment of D12's physical abilities. I do believe in a maintenance plans benefit and the need for us to put D-12 on one, but you have to excuse me when it comes to the assumed fact that D-12's abilities are about to fall off a cliff. I like Capela, but this isn't about him or his potential. this is about Dwight's assumed physical decline. everyone assumes that because he already has some miles on the engine that the car is about to self destruct. granted he did come straight from HS so their is extra wear and tear, but the man isn't even 30 and some of you are already looking at his retirement plan. the root question appears to be (how long can Dwight's body last under the physical strain of the NBA based on the physical nature of his skillset?) first and foremost each of you would have to admit along with myself that a good maintenance plan will prolong this process. how long? its hard to say, but there's no denying it's effectiveness in prolonging the career of a big man.  for those of you who disagree with my view........put a number on it. how long will D-12 last? 3 years? 5 years?..........1?. at this point there is no wrong answer because none of us can see the future (even though my magic 8 ball is pretty reliable :lol: ) I say if we get a good maintenance plan in place starting this year D-12 has 5 dominant years left before his decline would warrant us replacing him as starter. he will last longer in the league, but he will have declined to the point of no longer being a star.......just a good player. something along the lines of what Tyson Chandler is now. by then Capela will be more than ready. 2nd root question.........is D-12 worth the contract he will command next summer base on what you believe his effectiveness will be for the duration of that contract? D-12 will play this year so assuming a 4 year deal is what he is seeking come next summer his effectiveness over the next 5 years is what we are really looking at. since the Rockets are already sending out news that there will be reduced minutes for their players overall I will  work under the assumption that we will get a good maintenance plan in place starting this year. even the most critical of you guys would have to admit there are probably 3 dominant years left under these conditions. if that be the case it would force us into absorbing 2 mediocre years within D-12's next contract. are the 2 dominant years he has worth that kind of back end? YES.........YES. I believe they are. unless a chance at A. Davis falls into our lap riding out D-12's good years is in our best interest. I don't believe things will play out like this, but in the interest of objectivity this is probably the worst case scenario and even under this extreme case D-12 is still worth it. top flight big men don't grow on trees. no use getting off the surf board before the wave crashes onto the shore.

#48758 The keys to the Houston Rockets' season: #4 - the evolution of James Harden

Posted by rockets best fan on 31 July 2015 - 01:35 AM

I agree more with a game restriction that a minutes restriction. 2nd night of B2B's and tanking teams should be almost automatic games off for The Beard. I would like more pressure to be put on the rest of the team against some of the "lesser talents" of the NBA to grow as players and as a unit. Maybe this would prevent a lot of the playing to the level of the competition I have seen in the past. Guys who don't get much floor time being given an opportunity while we rest our franchise players will want to take advantage of their minutes and push their deveolpment in an almost D-League situation.

I too agree with game restrictions over minutes restricted. the NBA is supposed to curb the 4 games in 5 nights stuff and cut down on B2B's. while seeing is believing it should lead to a better quality of ball being played. I don't know if anyone else is noticing, but the Texas teams are always on the high end of B2B's in the scheduling. I wrote and ask the NBA why this is so and was told they did not see any disadvantage in the way the scheduling was done and basically brushed off after that. hopefully since they are making an effort to curb all B2Bs we will be one of the teams to benefit the most because of the amount we play. I think that can also play into how well we play and the injury picture.

#48617 Houston Rockets offseason check-in

Posted by rockets best fan on 15 July 2015 - 04:16 AM

while I don't really care for Lawson as a player you who is without sin cast the first stone. YES he messed up.......twice. however this man lives in the public spotlight so everything he does will be magnified. does he deserve punishment for what he did? YES, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. Lawson is unhappy in his present situation however before last year he was playing at a very high level. have those skills eroded? NO, not IMO. he let his unhappiness cause him make mistakes.......probably trying to drown his sorrows in the bottle. NEVER JUDGE A MAN TILL YOU HAVE WALKED A MILE IN HIS SHOES. punish him yes crucify him NO. here I am sticking up for the man and I don't even like him :lol:

#45890 The McFail Myth

Posted by rockets best fan on 10 December 2014 - 04:21 AM

@JG/txtdo1411

I agree the Rockets are aggressive in there quest to become champions again. the Rockets intentions are good, but in the case of McHale it's misguided. JG I'm not trying to out wit Morey on this one. I simply disagree with his opinion on McHale. I hope I'm wrong, but I call it the way I see it. the Rockets are my team, but I don't have to agree with everything they do in order for them to be my team. I don't have to be trying to out wit anybody because I have a difference of opinion do I? Morey is the right man for the job IMO, but he isn't above making mistakes. just because I trust him don't mean I have to agree with everything he does.

#45058 Terrence Jones and the Torture Chamber

Posted by rockets best fan on 03 November 2014 - 08:41 AM

I disagree with the idea there isn't room in the Rockets offense for T-Jones to shine. Harden, Howard and Ariza can't score all the points. T-Jones doesn't have to be 3rd leading scorer, but using him in our offensive scheme will offset some of his defensive liabilities by making other PF's guard him as well as John said above. T-Jones is an underutilized offensive weapon. his ability to score around the basket should be one of the used weapons within our arsenal. I'm floored so many think so little of his abilities. am I the only one watching the evolution of this guy? he may never be a shut down defender, but there is plenty to like about his game. I believe that game does have a place in the Rockets system. some are so busy looking for a PF that you might miss the one growing up in our own backyard.

#44359 Is it just me or...

Posted by rockets best fan on 05 October 2014 - 03:04 AM

@marbony81110

no doubt we take more than our share of negative press. however when you read into the articles you realize most of the writers haven't seen enough of the Rockets and are usually way off base on the internal workings of our organization and locker room. I use that fact to establish who creditable writers are. I know the Rockets about as well as any fan could, so when I read articles way off base on what's really happening it makes me take a look at that writer's creditability when considering other material he has written or will write. some writer's are more interested in hits than getting to the truth. once a writer writes enough bad articles I will no longer read his material or accept his statements without verifying through other sources. there are very few writer's who really know the Rockets. two of the worst offenders are Bill Ingram on basketball insiders and dang near every writer on Bleacher report. you will find very little real valued information coming from either of these two, but there are others. I'm floored by the lack of respect sometimes, but have pretty much grown use to the noise makers

I too am excited about this up coming season. I appear in the minority in believing we are a better team than when we finished the season. Lin was addition by subtraction to me. the players we have to replace him will be better than him IMO. Parsons was a good player, but his production will be replaced and exceeded by Ariza. Asik's only real impact for the team came during the playoffs. we went most of the season with him either pouting or injured .......which ever story you want to believe. personally I believe he was pouting. however in either case his effectiveness to change where we stood at the end of the season record wise was minimal at best and when you consider the time we wasted at the beginning of the season trying to make the twin tower effect work Asik was more negative than positive. I believe with the assets his trade provided us we can be a better team over the long haul. I trust Morey to turn that Pelican's pick into something to help this team to the next level of it's evolution.

I share your opinion about McHale. I have beat that drum so loudly I think everyone here is clear on what I think of his abilities. HE'S A SUPER HERO...........HE'S IMPOSTER MAN :lol: I regress :lol: don't want to rile up the masses. however my hope is this is the last season we will be cursed with his presence. so I'm just riding it out.

#43698 Houston Rockets' summer assignment list: Part 2, James Harden

Posted by rockets best fan on 14 August 2014 - 01:49 AM

@Rahat

I understand and agree with some of your critical view of Harden. my point is I think you went to far in assessing his faults. I don't give much credit to rumors from other teams and body language so for you to use them in support of a behavioral pattern was overboard. IMO quitting is a character issue. before I go on record attacking a man character I need more concrete evidence than rumors and body language. that was my only reservation in reading your article. YES Harden should have critical review like everybody else, but like I said in previous post, we must not lose context because of our own frustration with him

#42296 Houston Rockets decline to match on Chandler Parsons, sun rises Monday morning

Posted by rockets best fan on 14 July 2014 - 03:19 PM

@Rahat

I disagree. I don't know if Fegan had some sort of wink wink deal with Morey, but it does sound possible. I don't think we lost that much ground off last years team. Parsons and Ariza are close enough in talent to minimize the drop off at SF, moving Lin is addition by subtraction and I didn't want to see another year of Asik's pouting. SO WHAT DID WE REALLY LOSE BY SWINGING FOR THE FENCE? Parsons isn't worth 15 mil per under any conditions. ask yourself this...............if we sign Parsons knowing what it will do to our cap......are we then good enough to be on level with OKC? how about the Clippers? fact is Morey knows we aren't as good with Parsons to compete with those teams and won't settle for 2nd best. we are trying to build a championship team not just a good one. your notion of panic seems to be that we are somehow wasting D-12's prime. I disagree with you on how long and how much he has left. we have not neared panic stage. I want to win the championship tomorrow too, but it's a process and one that is very hard to short cut. I STILL BELIEVE IN MOREY. he hasn't made any move that I would not have made myself. he didn't have the advantage of looking into a crystal ball. do I wish things had turned out differently.......YES, but I still think when confronted with our problems Morey responded correctly. with Parson and some other tweak pieces we were not going to win the championship, so don't tie yourself to that team........that's what Morey really did and I agree with that opinion

#42258 The Red94 Podcast: The healing process begins

Posted by rockets best fan on 13 July 2014 - 08:10 PM

it's amazes me even in departure Lin sparks and argument. I've been trying to stay out of it. I don't feel the need to get in some proverbial final jabs. Lin's departure can not be spoiled by a few tomato's being tossed by his followers on the way out the door. with each insult they reveal who they are. I wish them well. I hope Lin finds his basketball game in LA. I doubt Lin will transform into a star, but Lin fans have a right to their dream also. what I am most excited about......is the end of the argument with his fans over who he is and his role on this team. once gone I'm hoping that our forum returns to the state JG pictured in his joke on the matter.

for all those needing to toss departing jabs remember............an insult says much more about you than it does your target. I will not bow to your level.....I'm hoping to raise you to mine :)

@junglejim

the Lin thread was locked for good reason. it was about to get ugly. you seem like one of the more rational Lin fans. I wish Lin and you well. the divorce went about as well as can be expected. while I didn't like Lin as a player I have no personal vendetta against him and have come to understand the complicated situation surrounding him. I expect (and have already seen some) parting shots being taken by his fans on Houston's forums, but I must say you said your goodbye with class. stop by for the discussions sometimes........you will be a welcomed member

#41555 #7 on Carmelo Anthony during pitch?...

Posted by rockets best fan on 03 July 2014 - 04:01 AM

DAAAAAAAM three pages before I ever read the first post!

@Johnny33

good point  you raise.....that this isn't the first time this has been done yet it never caused a disturbance in the force before

@TTDN

if this does mean the line has been drawn in the sand with Lin then YES "today was a good day" :)

I see so many poster bent out of shape, but none were offended last year when it happen to Bev. you are HYPROCRITS if it only offends you because it happen to Lin. there is a peeking order in the NBA. players on the bottom will never be treated as good as stars. nobody flew to Beverly's house the day before he signed. based on the fact that Melo's signing means Lin's departure I really don't see where the conflict is. we need a new #7.  you think Lin hasn't seen the writing on the wall by now? maybe he should have gotten a clue when Les said we can clear cap space to bring in a terrific player. maybe he should have picked it up when Asik was traded. Lin's no dummy. he knew this day was coming. the NBA is a business. a results oriented business. people get their feeling hurt everyday in this business, but I don't see a pity party for them posted here.

I can't tell you how happy I will be the day Lin departs and takes all of his irrational fans with him. I don't give a flying flip about Lin......MY TEAM IS THE ROCKETS

Posted by rockets best fan on 13 May 2014 - 05:59 PM

@smeggysmeg

when I read your post my thought was that of JG. perhaps you need to take another look at your post. I was on the site at the time you posted, so I was one of the first to read it. JG is the Moderator so I will leave instruction or correction to him. I just wanted to give you another opinion so you will know that you were not as clear in your directed rant as maybe you thought you were. we have a really good forum here. we have opinions here from all parts of the spectrum. however we also respect one another. I read many sites where the mud slinging is out of control. to avoid that here there is a strict code of conduct. JG is only trying to maintain that. so before you go on a persecuted victim rant take a deeper look because it is you who is out of line

#39566 Red Herring

Posted by rockets best fan on 30 April 2014 - 05:43 PM

@Freebird

I agree the Seattle group maybe the answer for this problem. definitely worth looking into. I understand your view in regards to the private nature of Sterling's comments, however once those recordings go public it becomes what he said over and above how the recordings surfaced. what this woman did to him was under handed low down and sneaky, however if you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas. a man must learn the company he keeps. his own arrogance is more to blame for his down fall than what this woman did. the sense he could say whatever he wanted to who ever he wanted and  suffer no repercussions finally caught up to him. one premise I live my life by................if you do wrong, wrong will find you. you reap what you sow. when you live a reckless lifestyle, no need to get pissed when you have a wreck
