@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) http://bleacherrepor...ist-after-crash
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK

Forgive me for the blasphemy I am about to commit.  I have become fascinated with the Warriors' winning ways.  Of particular interest is their margin of victory.  Currently, that number sits at +11.2.  The next closest in the league is +6.9 (Atlanta).

A closer comparison is the -10.8 margin that Philadelphia currently possesses.  In a nutshell, Golden State is beating people on a nightly basis as badly as Philly is getting beat on a nightly basis.  They are Yin and Yang.  What is more impressive is when one considers how much more difficult it is to be on their side of that coin.  It's easy enough to get beat by 10 points a night....

I was curious how they stack up historically against teams that have had excellent seasons  (both with W/L and +/-).  I mostly stuck to post 1970 NBA and did not comb through every team of every season, but +/- is tied into a team's W/L record so I likely didn't miss too many significant ones.  I've listed the teams, the season, the +/- margin, and ultimate result.  Check it out.

San Antonio Spurs:

'05-'06: +6.8 (lost 2nd round)

'13-'14: +7.8 (won finals)

Los Angeles Lakers:

'71-'72: +12.3 (won finals)

'84-'85: +7.3 (won finals)

'86-'87: +9.3 (won finals)

'99-'00: +8.5 (won finals)

Boston Celtics:

'85-'86: +9.4 (won finals)

'07-'08: +10.2 (won finals)

Seattle/OKC:

'93-'94: +9.0 (lost 1st round)

'12-'13: +9.2 (lost 2nd round - Westbrook injury)

Chicago Bulls:

'90-'91: +9.0 (won finals)

'95-'96: +12.3 (won finals - league record 72-10 W/L)

'96-'97: +10.8 (won finals)

Utah Jazz:

'94-'95: +8.0 (lost 1st round - to Houston!!!)

'96-'97: +8.8 (lost in finals)

'97-'98: +6.6 (lost in finals)

Phoenix Suns:

'92-'93: +6.7 (lost in finals)

'04-'05: +7.1 (lost WC finals)

'06-'07: +7.3 (lost 2nd round)

I feel like Captain Obvious over here, but hugely talented rosters, that produce a high win% and +/- score tend to enjoy post season success.  Double digit +/- scores all ended up hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Now, I'm not saying they are going to win it all.  The season isn't over yet so that score can shift.  Still, anything at +9.3 and above still won the finals.

Further, I'd say none of the above teams were faced with a gauntlet similar to this year's WC playoffs.  In fact, I would argue the Houston Rockets, as a 6th seed in the '95 playoffs, took one of the toughest roads to finals glory ever.  Utah, Phoenix, San Antonio, and Orlando.  The Utah and Phoenix series both went to the limit and then San Antonio fell in 6 games.  We all know what happened to Orlando.

Our +/- has hovered around +4 - +5 all season.  That doesn't exclude us from any level of success, but it certainly does not make us stand out from the crowd or provide any statistical bumps based off history.  Still, we were a meager +2.1 in '94-'95 and +4.3 in '93-'94...both championship seasons for us.

Ultimately, I know that match-ups, health, and luck will be as big of factors as point differential during this year's playoffs.  That said, I feel like we are seeing a truly special team this season.  They may not reach that final goal, but don't let rivalry interfere with respecting and enjoying what they are accomplishing this season.  They are literally whooping teams worse than the teams who are actually tanking are getting beat.

That is all.  Again, please forgive my blasphemous ways.  :(

Van Gundy basically crowned them champs during a recent broadcast.  He said they would not lose more than one game in any series. (presuming they are healthy).

Steve Kerr is making Mark Jackson look like an idiot and the Warriors owner look like a genius.

Of course now it's championship or bust. They have star power and depth. There is no excuse to lose in the playoffs. The team that could give them trouble would be Dallas IMO.

I can respect what they are doing, but I absolutely do not enjoy it. In fact I loathe it, as they are probably my least favorite team in the league at this point in time. They are remarkable as a team though. I personally do not think it is sustainable, eventually someone has to be able to exploit 6'7 Green at PF, but it is very impressive. They have 3 starters shooting 40%+ from 3 this year. Curry has the lowest percentage at 40.4%. Thompson and Barnes are shooting 44.1% and 42.6% respectively. That is absolutely insane shooting. For some reason I just can't see that lasting throughout the playoffs, or even the regular season. But who knows? Maybe I am just bitter, and envious of their ability to actually shoot the ball. If I was a betting man, I would still take the WC field over them 10 out of 10 times.

Shoot, according to Draftexpress.com Draymond is 6' 5 3/4" without shoes.  That is just over 1" taller than me and I can not fathom trying to play PF against NBA behemoths.  He does have a 7' 1" wingspan...so that helps.

That's the thing.  Most teams are not built to score in the post with more than one player so as long as they have Bogut they can match up with nearly anyone without worrying about Green's size.  Besides, they have David Lee chilling on the bench if they need more size at PF.

I respect the Warriors performance, but I really don't like them. They're way too cocky IMO and get all the love from the media. May be jealousy or bitterness on my part, but I really want the Rockets to meet them sometime in the playoffs for another shot and beat them. The same goes with the Trail Blazers, though the logic in me is screaming for some matchup like the Mavs.

I don't think David Lee is equipped to defend any of the league's premier power forwards... on a side note, the Hawks Paul Millsap absolutely had his way with Draymond Green in their win over Golden State. Gives me hope that he isn't as unstoppable as we perceive him to be. I'm still waiting for the Warriors to slump lol.
