The Chinanu Onuaku era in Houston has ended

The man who as recently as this Tuesday I called one of the worst prospects I had ever seen don a Houston Rockets uniform has mercifully been traded, only to suffer the grave ignominy of then immediately being subsequently waived by the acquiring team. The cap casualty.

I had high hopes for Onuaku, for no other reason than that I don’t watch or know anything about college basketball. I saw him as the next Capela but he was not even Pig Miller.

I wrote that before I found this video of Pig Miller absolutely abusing a then-very-young Robert Horry.

But Onuaku will be fondly remembered, if nothing more than a mere footnote, as a man so firmly secure in his manhood that he voluntarily employed the single most emasculating maneuver in the sport. I wanted him to succeed just for that. But there was really nothing he could do at an NBA level.

And so the cycle continues as prospects come and go. Except for Sergio Llull who likely will never come.
