Basketball and economics

I can’t seem to embed it for some reason, but click here for the 610 interview with Adrian Wojnarowski.  In it, he discusses the Rockets’ coaching search, but just one minute in, he mentions something which I find pretty fascinating: he says that the reason they’re interviewing seemingly everyone under the sun is to get a variety of opinions about their team, sort of like free consulting, if you will.

That’s pretty interesting to me and another example of how the team does things differently than the traditional approach.  At the end of the day, the name of the game is ‘information’ whether it be statistics or observational; the Rockets simply feel the wisest decisions are made in the market by those consumers who are most informed.  Not exactly an earth-shattering concept, but the realization never ceases to escape us.
